Taking out a KAL fitness membership isn’t just about losing weight or getting fitter, exercise has so many benefits.
We spoke with our inspirational member Samantha Wells and she told us how group exercises classes at KAL helped her combat depression and anxiety.
She said: “I was suffering with depression and anxiety and I’d always been in and out of KAL centres because my children have swimming lessons.
“I picked up a leaflet about membership at KAL one day and said to my husband I’m going to do this, I was ready to try anything that could help me.”
A few months on, and Samantha takes part in Les Mills classes, yoga and Aerotone, and she’s seen a variety of changes in both her mood and body.
She said: “At first it was really daunting but I tried group exercise classes because that’s what motivates me and within a matter of weeks I was seeing that I had more energy. When I come out of classes I’m buzzing.”
Samantha has changed her lifestyle, now she makes sure she has time to exercise and visits the gym on average three times a week.
She said: “Now when I finish work I’m still bright eyed and bushy tailed. When I can’t get to the gym I notice my mood starting to drop.”
“I really didn’t expect that anything could improve my mood so quickly. I’m 39 next week and I don’t feel over the hill.”
At KAL we like to make it as easy for our members as we can, that’s why we introduced our user-friendly mobile app.
Sam said: “The flexibility of KAL is great, if I can’t get to a certain class or a certain centre I just log on to the app and find a class that’s more accessible. It’s the best thing I could’ve done.”
