CONGRATULATIONS to Dewsbury Amateur Swimming Club (DASC) this year the club raised £4620.70 for Marie Curie Cancer Care and Cancer research.
The money was raised at this years Swimathon held at Dewsbury Sports Centre.
DASC entered 15 teams into the Swimathon and a total of 81 swimmers took part swimming a total of 86 km or 2595 lengths of the 33m pool.
All of this was sponsored by DASC club coaches, committee members, individual members and local businesses.
Swimming Club Coach, Nathan Haigh, said: “Our motivation to take part in this event is simple we all have family, friends or people we know that are suffering a form of this disease or have lost their battle with it. As a club we felt that we could use our talents to assist in some way and that we all enjoy swimming together as one team.
“In the pool challenge for swimathon we just lost out of being in the top ten in the country something we are aiming to achieve next year.”
